Blackout at High Park Amphitheatre
On August 14th, 2003, Toronto was sent into chaos when the largest blackout in Canadian history left millions stranded in the dark and unable to reach or connect with their loved ones. Blackout is a new Canadian musical that depicts three stories of connection that unfolded when the city was dark, and strangers banded together to find the light. Featuring an all-star cast, including Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful, The Carole King Musical), Blackout is a story of hope, resilience, and community.
BLACKOUT: "Shine Again" (2021)
Besides Chilina, there are many Mirvish connections to this intriguing new musical, which is now playing under the stars in the High Park Amphitheatre. The producer is The Musical Stage Company (with whom we’ve co-produced Fun Home and Next to Normal). The writers are Steven Gallagher (book) and Anton Lipovetsky (music & lyrics). Many of you may have spoken with Steven when you phoned to book tickets to shows in the past. He’s been a loyal member of our customer service staff for many years. As you will discover when you attend Blackout, he’s also an accomplished and acclaimed playwright with many credits to his name.
If you’ve been dreaming of attending a live musical this summer, your dream has come true. Guaranteed advance tickets to Blackout are $49.00; or, if you’re willing to take a chance on availability two days prior to performance, the price is only a pay-what-you-wish rate.
Blackout is playing now until August 15
