Arts & Crafts Guest Column

Mirvish staffer Jen Cooper may have been the quickest one of us all to pivot from the stage into a craft and this one was in HIGH demand: tie-dye sweats! She tells us all about her journey into her fun new side hustle below.

Like so many of us, when the pandemic hit last year, I found myself feeling dazed and confused. Initially, I found comfort in the time I was able to spend with my family. Eventually, though, I found myself itching to keep the creative side of me active and engaged.

As the weather warmed up, and the city’s lockdown orders were lifted, I started tie-dying as a fun outdoor activity. Slowly this morphed into my very own small business: iDye Custom Tie Dye on Instagram shop.

I make custom tie-dye t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts and reusable cotton face masks. All the pieces are made to order and can be customized in any colour or pattern.

This has given me a focus and drive I never realized I had in me. It has been humbling to see the tremendous support I have received.
